The Official Cocktail of the Belmont Stakes: The Belmont Jewel

NYRA’s Belmont Park has had trouble finding the perfect cocktail for their big day. Moving from the “White Carnation” (inspired by the raceday flower) to the Belmont Breeze (which had 8,000 ingredients and took forever to make) to the simpler and to the point “Belmont Jewel.”

Belmont Jewel

Which one is better? Hard to say! If you ask us…Bourbon should be saved for the State of Kentucky and the other tracks should play around with other liquors, (props to  Preakness on this one!) but hey! Who can fault an official cocktail?? At least they have one…

Here is the 3 ingredients that make up the Belmont Jewel:

1.5 Bourbon

2 oz lemonade

1 oz pomegranate juice

Easy enough right?? Grab one on the day and tell us what YOU think! Oh…pictures please! 😉

Black Eyed Susan Day and The Preakness Stakes are coming up!

Here’s the recipe for the signature drink on the day:BES drink

The Black Eyed Susan

1.25 oz Vodka

0.25 oz St. Germain

2 oz Lemon juice

3 oz Lemongrass & Blackberry Simple Syrup
