Breeders Cup Style

butterfly-hat-2The 2016 Breeders Cup Championships return to the sunny Santa Anita Park November 4th and 5th.

Although the race weekend is held in November, still expect some sunny temperatures on track which allows you to dress as if its early Spring Racing.

This will be my third Breeders Cup at Santa Anita and I feel like I am more prepared this year than ever…part of that is that I already have my dresses a month prior! This never happens….procrastination is my middle name.

If you are still looking for your raceday style, I’ve helped out a little by choosing 20 dresses that would be perfect for the race days. Of course you will still need to find shoes, a bag, and a fabulous hat but this is at least a start. I can always help out with the others once you have your dress!

I’ve included all different types of dresses that can fit most ages. As always, my advice for dress shopping is this:champs-2

  1. Find something that you will be comfortable. I’ll all about the saying “Beauty is Pain” but not when your 8 hours on your too high heels in a dress that you can’t breath. That would be a bad day at the races…for you and everyone you are with.
  2. Flatter your figure. Not all of us are built like sticks, or have curves that kill! Find the garmet that makes you feel the best. You CAN be sexy and elegant at the same time.
  3. Keep it classy. I really don’t know how ladies where short short dress at the races. There are stairs, balconies, wind gusts, lots of photographers…you get the point. The Midi-length is the best length for the races. I am not a fan of maxis- leave those for the beach or boardwalk. GO MIDI!
  4. Cut-Outs are Cool….only if they aren’t too much. Show some skin but not all of it. Give em a peek- not the whole show.
  5. Jump into a jumpsuit! If you are tired of the dress game and want to try something different, grab a jumpsuit! A solid colored jumpsuit with a strong millinery piece is a fabulous outfit. I do recommend heels with a jumpsuit though- it is easy to make one look more like a onsie than a high fashion garment. Think tall- be tall- dress tall. Shoulders back!
